Look at Home for Unusual Scrapbooking Supplies
Many scrapbook lovers don’t realize that they probably have numerous items they could use in their scrapbooks in their own homes. Look in the refrigerator to find just a few of these items. Use spaghetti sauce jars, jelly jars, parmesan cheese containers and other clear containers to hold ribbons, buttons, and other loose scrapbooking materials.
How about using items from the living room or game room? If there are any puzzles, games, or playing card decks with missing pieces or cards, think about using them in unique ways to decorate the pages of a scrapbook.
Take a look in the bedroom to find other items for scrapbooking. Old costume jewelry and extra buttons make great embellishments. If there are old clothing items that won’t be worn again, they can be cut up and the fabric can be used.
People can use items from gifts they receive in their scrapbooking supplies. One can use gift bags, tags, ribbons and gift cards on scrapbooking pages. Cut up gift bags into cute shapes and use the front of greeting cards to embellish the pages. One can easily cut out the middle of a greeting card and use the rest for a border of a picture or use the picture on a greeting card to enhance a scrapbook page.
Scrapbooking Supplies from the Dollar Store
Go to the local store to find tons of items that can be used to make beautiful scrapbook pages. One can find gift tags, gift wrap, markers, adhesives, and clear storage containers which could make great additions to someone’s craft collection.
Sometimes dollar stores have an actual scrapbooking section with chipboard pieces, stickers, and scrapbook paper. Ask the store manager if they have one of these sections. The prices are dramatically lower than what you would normally find in a local craft store.
Yard Sales and Flea Markets
These events can be a scrapbook lovers dream come true. One can find boxes of craft supplies for less than a dollar or items that can be used for next to nothing. It’s worth spending a Saturday afternoon checking out local yard sales and flea markets every once in a while.
Go to the yard sale with an open mind. Don’t just walk past things because they’re not considered scrapbooking supplies. Get creative and look for containers, yarn, fabric, maps, costume jewelry, children’s books and old clothes to use on scrapbook pages.
Look in unique places such as one’s home, dollar store, local yard sales and flea markets to find inexpensive materials to use while scrapbooking. Don’t throw away the gift wrap and greeting cards before thinking about how they can be used in other crafts.
