Scrapbooking Themes for BoysIdeas About How to Create a Special Scrapbook for your Son
Creative ideas as to how to preserve your son's early days through scrapbooking.
Scrapbooking is a wonderfully creative pastime and a way to preserve precious memories of your son. Even people who would not call themselves creative have excelled in this craft. If you are just setting out or even if you are a seasoned scrapbooker, these ideas can inspire and point you to even more creativity. ThemesOne of the joys of scrapbooking is taking a theme and creating a page around it. Stores are full of accessories and half the fun is searching for the right background or image. Starting OutPhotographs are the basis of a scrapbook, and this is the first thing needed. If you don’t have a selection on hand, grab the camera and keep it with you for the next few days. Take shots of your son in multiple settings and in different clothes. Look for natural poses and take close-up shots as well as distance ones. When you have a good number to work with, set them out in front of you and look for a distinguishing feature. Maybe a favorite toy or Dad’s car or the beach or your son in a formal outfit. Allow your ideas to spring from these features. Below are a few to get your thoughts going. Super-HeroesAll young boys seem to go through a super-hero phase. Cut out photos of them posing in their favorite super-hero suit and glue this over a city skyline or a deep canyon to give the effect of him flying. Print out bold headlines to go with the pictures: "Superman Saves the Day!" or "Bold Rescue by Spider-Man!". MessesLittle boys and messes are synonymous. Collect pictures of your son covered in mud or with his clothes grass-stained and ripped and make them into a messy page. Try a plain background with a spray of dirt or spots of spilled paint. A Day with DadBoys love to be with Dad or any adult male if they are going to do boy’s stuff. Look for pictures of them cheek to cheek as they build a model or Dad running with junior on his shoulders. Denim backgrounds and accessories such as mini certificates of achievement work well with this theme. ToolsMost boys love to experiment with tools. Cut out photos of them with drills, grinders, screwdrivers and side-cutters and glue these over a building site background or a paper patterned with bricks. Look for stickers to represent the small stuff like screws, nuts and bolts. You could even create a tool box out of card. FishingA boy’s scrapbook wouldn’t be complete without a fishing page. Use layers of paper and card to create the ocean, rocks and sandy beach. Onto this glue a cutout photo of your boy with fishing rod and his catch for the day. Captions such as “The Greatest Fisherman” or “Biggest Catch of the Day” will put a smile on your son’s face. AnimalsAn outing to the zoo or animal farm can produce lovely shots of your son interacting with wildlife. These can be turned into a page where he is a game warden or a survivor in a jungle. Think of backgrounds like leopard spots or zebra stripes. Accessories could include tiny squares from a map and stickers of binoculars and survival equipment. These are just a few ideas, but the choice is endless. Whatever you choose, a scrapbook will be a much-loved memento of a period in your child’s life. Why not make one for each year?
