Scrapbooking fiends are always looking for scrapbook page ideas and layouts. Here are some very basic, useful tips for hobbyists, to keep work organized and coordinated.

The hobby of scrapbooking is absorbing, exciting and enticing. Scrapbookers are constantly looking for ways and methods to help deal with supplies, ideas, and finding solutions to keep materials protected and categorized.

Scrapbooking Layout Ideas for Scrapbook Enthusiasts

  • Use successful layouts done in other albums for other themes. Ever created something really good? Take that same idea and layout, use completely different papers, suitable stickers, alternative words, but use the same formations in a new scrapbook. It is simple, really works and will look completely different.
  • Cut out shapes of animation and other pictures from magazines. Use them to make cutouts to suit your pages.
  • Choose "high-end" furniture magazines; carefully note the beautiful layouts of their photographs, and create the same design.
  • Check out scrapbook kits on websites and in magazines. Note the color schemes and designs, and copy the style and color combinations, based on the examples seen.
  • Got pieces of fabric that you love but don't want to sew with? Use them for scrapbooks. Cut them and add fabric adhesive that is acid free, and use them to embellish album pages.

Creating Memories for the Family

  • Kids’ drawings: As a kids’ album is completed, have children draw one picture and place it on the last page of the album. By doing this, a progression and changes of children's art work from year to year can be traced. Alternatively, have children write a composition each year, instead of doing a drawing, and paste this into the scrapbook of that year. This will reflect their development and hold memories for them.

Collectibles & Embellishments for Scrapbooking

  • Collectibles: If you have collections of items that cannot fit into your album, put them in a box, name and label the box the same as the album from that year, and keep the "sets" bound together.
  • Embellishments: Use souvenirs, tickets, invitations and other odds and ends (that usually lie around in boxes and drawers) on scrapbook pages, next to relevant pictures or journaling.

Keeping Order and Organization during the Scrapbooking Process

  • When working on many different scrapbooks at any one time, keep a journal with logs of what has been finished, where the photos and themed paper for this album are kept, what fonts were used on the computer for the project. When scrapbookers sit down to work on an album on a future date, they can just flip to the diary of the particular scrapbook and see where the materials are, what has been done, used, and where to start from again.

Storing Scrapbooks:

  • Place each album in a canvas/fabric slip shopping bag (usually the perfect size for an album). This enables one to grab the album from the handles and allow for easy transportability.

Keep helpful tips from magazines or other articles in the scrapbook diary for future use. While some hobbyists are avid workers, others do their scrapbooking intermittently; the tips will help one get back in gear when sitting down again to partake in this wonderful past-time.
