Children love making presents for the people they love. This calendar is not only a keepsake of the child at that point but also a great present.

Children and homemade presents for those they love go hand in hand. Parents, grandparents and other special people in kids' lives love getting presents kids make. This calendar, which was started in the article Hand Calendar, is both a functional present and one that provides memories of the child at the time the calendar is made.

The calendar pages can all be made with a simple craft supplies. All require various shades of construction paper and crayons. Calendar pages printed from software or the Internet are also required.

May–Ladybug or Flower

Materials

  • Construction paper, red for ladybug or any flower color and green for flower.
  • Crayons
  • April calendar printed on plain white paper

Procedure

For Ladybug

  1. Trace the child's hand with fingers next to each other on red construction paper.
  2. Cut out hand and glue to the back center of the April calendar.
  3. Draw spots on the lady bugs and a face near the front.
  4. Write May Ladybug.

For Flower

  1. Trace the child's hand with fingers next to each other on flower colored paper.
  2. Cut out a stem and leaves from the green construction paper.
  3. Glue the flower and stem to the center back of the April Calendar.
  4. Write May Flower

June–Pineapple or Ship

Materials

  • Construction paper
  • Crayons
  • May Calendar printed on plain white paper

Procedure:

For the pineapple

  1. Trace the child's hand on light bown construction paper with fingers next to each other.
  2. Add spiky leaves to the top of the hand tracing.f
  3. Cut out pineapple and glue to the center back of the May calendar.
  4. Draw criss cross lines on the pineapple.
  5. Color the leaves green.
  6. Write June Pineapple.

For the Ship

  1. Trace the hand with fingers next to each other on white construction paper.
  2. Cut a ship shape and a mast shape from brown construction paper.
  3. Cut a star from red construction paper.
  4. Glue the ship piece near the bottom of the center of the back of the May calendar.
  5. Add the mast and sail. Glue the star to the center of the sail.
  6. Write Sail into Summer.

July–Fireworks or Liberty Bell

Materials

  • Construction Paper
  • Crayons
  • Glitter for fireworks
  • June calendar printed on plain white paper

Procedure

For the Liberty Bell

  1. Trace the child's hand on black or grey construction paper with the fingers near each other.
  2. Cut out the hand.
  3. Cut a rectangle which is slightly wider than the child's hand from brown construction paper
  4. Glue the rectangle near the top center of the back of the June calendar.
  5. Glue the hand to the center of the brown rectangle.
  6. Write July Liberty Bell

For the Fireworks

  1. Trace the child's hand with fingers spread on white construction paper.
  2. Cut out the hand.
  3. Color the fingers red and blue in an alternating pattern.
  4. Glue a large black rectangle to the back of the June calendar
  5. Glue the hand to the center of the black rectangle.
  6. Put glitter in lines coming from the fingers and back of palm
  7. Write July Fireworks.

August–Sun or School Bus

Materials

  • Construction paper
  • Crayons
  • July calendar printed on plain white paper.

Procedure

For the sun

  1. Trace the palm and four fingers of the child's hand 4 times on yellow construction paper.
  2. Cut out the hands.
  3. Cut a circle from orange construction paper.
  4. Glue the hands in a circular shape on the back of the July calendar.
  5. Glue the orange circle to the center of the hand circle.
  6. Draw a face on the circle and write August Sun.

For the school bus

  1. Trace the child's hands with fingers close together on yellow construction paper.
  2. Cut two circles from black construction paper.
  3. Cut the hand out.
  4. Glue the circles near the bottom of the back of the July calendar.
  5. Glue the hand slightly above the circles.
  6. Draw windows and a door on the hand.
  7. Write August Back to School
