Kids grow so fast. It is hard to remember all the cute things they've said or done. Here are some creative ways to freeze time in scrapbooks.
When you stop to think that every moment your kids spend is a memory in the making, it makes wanting to keep those memories alive more important. There are so many ways to create memories with scrapbooks, but here are just a few more ideas that may help you with your love for your kids and your passion for scrapbooking.
A Picture Tells a Thousand Words
It's natural to take pictures on vacation, at special events, and during school performances. You remember to bring your camera with you at these times because you want to remember where you have been and be able to share these moments with your children as they grow. Do they really tell who your family is and what makes your family tick?
Take pictures of your kids doing more natural things like playing a game with a friend, riding a bike down the street, or visiting your local ice cream shop. These types of pictures are a fingerprint of who you are.
Handwriting - The Not-So-Lost Art
You may hear that with computers able to do many tasks for us these days, the idea of handwriting in scrapbooks seems foolish. This is simply not so. Adding handwriting to your scrapbook gives a true personality to your pages. Try having your kids write their version of what is happening in a particular photo (or write it for your child, if she cannot write herself). Looking back at this will not only make the photo more special, but will also remind you of the time your child added her work of art.
It's All in the Presentation
Making photos interesting to look at is an important way to ensure that the photos will be viewed over and over again. Placing photos in a box gives them much less chance to be looked through. A scrapbook allows for an interesting format that kids will pick up over and over again. They will be drawn not only to the pictures on the pages, but to the embellishments that have been added to the pages.
Remember to use protective sleeves, especially when children are younger.
Replenish Ideas
Scrapbooking magazines offer a wealth of ideas when it comes to page layouts, tips, and supplies. Simply walk into a craft store to drum up more creative ideas than you can take in. Make sure you keep your wallet at home, if you are just browsing for ideas. Take a scrapbooking class to get all you can out of your resources.
